A new reference in the province of Vlaams-Brabant : ONFF-472 Snoekengracht in Vertrijk (Boutersem).
In company of my buddies ON7YZ Mario and ON3FY David we activated this one. Nice area, with the 16th century St. Lucia chapel as a bless over our activation. The chapel is inside de boundaries of the park, so great place to put up the antennas!
ON7YZ operated as OR7Z/p and made about 100 QSO’s (also some PSK QSO’s in the log). Me, OT4V/p, ended up with 255 QSO’s in 30 DXCC and 3 continents (EU, AS, NA). 99 CW and 156 phone contacts on 40-30-40 meters.
Thanks to David, ON3FY for another excellent catering service and for taking lots of photos while we were very concentrated working the pile-ups!
By the way, what do you think of our new ONFF T-shirts ?

Gerheserbossen: een redelijk groot bosgebied....zoveel bos in de streek dat men
hier en daar open plekken maakt om de heide meer kans te geven. Deze plekken laat men begrazen. Lokatie: Ham , JO21OC

On an early saturday morning setting up the OT4V/p station while spotting 3 bucks … That’s how my day started today. My chronical pain ruled but this makes the pain a little less tough. Also my buddy and lifetime friend ON7YZ wanted to join for the first time with his new /P station, and so he did.
My traditional start is 14.044CW to work my buddy in Alberta, VE6UX. Booming in like a local today! While ON7YZ (OR7Z/p) struggled with his laptop I had a good run on 20 and 30m CW. But I was not in big shape, lots of errors in my CW, sorry guys!
OR7Z/p started calling in PSK63 but with not much of success though. Still to fine-tune some thinngs on his /P station.
I had a run on 40m SSB wit some locals and lots of EU in the log. My good friend André (no HAM) arrived with fresh baked beacon & eggs … 15 minutes laters ON4BAG arrived with some more sweeties … We must have gained some weight on this activation. Thanks fellows!
I (OT4V/p) worked 123 QSO’s … OR7Z/p about 70, not bad for a first /P operation.

My /P station was still loaded in the car while I took my XYL to here work so why not set it up and do a “pop-up” activation ?
I was already in ONFF-320 Kwarekken back in 2014 but due to bad conditions made only 143 QSO’s. Not enough to have all WWFF-hunters in the log ! So the choice was made very quickly as it is only 10 minutes driving from XYL’s work place. WX was overcasted but dry after a night of rain. For the smell of the bushes only you should do this kind of activation !
Starting as usual on 20m CW with as 3rd station buddy VE6UX, Bob. Great way to start ! The 20m SSB was not that good, mainly EU and some Asiatic Russians, one EA8. Like in tennis, had to take a short “rain-break”. And coffee time !
On 30m a lot of static, only 19 QSO’s in the log. The best run was on 40SSB with nice groundwave conditions and lots of locals in the log.
261 QSO’s with 30 DXCC and 4 continents is the end result, guess ONFF-320 is now in the log of most fanatic WWFF chasers !

A new reference on the ONFF-list : ONFF-470 Aardgat in Tienen (VB). Not a very large area, mainly grassfields and a little pool with some nice fauna & flora around.
A very slow start on 20cw, even a slower one on 20SSB. No DX worked at all. Got a brandnew manual antennatuner and I’m able now to tune my G5RVjr on 30m. What a pile up ! Had to go split for a while as the stations kept calling me …. very good run !
Also 40SSB started slowly but once the groundwave condition improved the pile up was rather good. In the meantime the unbeatable catering service from ON3FY arrived.
279 QSO’s, 102 in CW, in 30 DXCC and 2 continents. ONFF-470 is no longer a blank spot!
Thanks again to ON3FY for the catering and for taking some nice photos while I was fighting the pile-up.

Spoorwegzate is een van de kleine maar mooie sites, je kan er een eindje fietsen
of wandelen. Moeilijke condities met de nodige qsb. 40 m band opende pas om 1200LT voor
lokale verbindingen. 20m was zoals gewoonlijk 's morgens goed intercontinentaal.

My second activation of the week and hoping for better conditions : ONFF-143 Enneilles. Big signs showed me the way to Enneilles but at the terrain it was a bit more difficult to find the right spot. Once found I set up and started as usual on 20m CW …
And a good run with 2 USA stations in the log, 4X4JU and several Asiatic Russians. QSY to 20m SSB gave me soon a QSO with buddy VK5PAS in the far Down-under. With EA8BB I hit the African continent. And for the first time I had big signals from the ON chasers ! Many in the log this time on 40 meter !
I broke all personal records : 249 QSO’s in 37 countries and 5 continents. Satisfied !
And during my 3 hours of being present in ONFF-143 I met not one human being. The poor lonesome activator !
